Our Initiatives

At Empower Challenged Children Foundation (ECC), we are committed to improving the lives of children with disabilities in Cape Coast, Ghana, through a variety of impactful initiatives. Our projects are designed to provide essential resources, empower families, and foster community engagement.

Monthly Meetings

We host monthly meetings featuring a diverse range of speakers, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, and psychologists, to educate parents on caring for children with disabilities. Topics cover at-home physical therapy exercises, nutrition, caregiving tips, and upcoming events. These gatherings not only provide valuable information but also create a supportive community where parents can share their experiences and insights.

Buying Physical Therapy Equipment and Mobility Devices

This initiative focuses on enhancing the quality of care for children with disabilities by acquiring essential physical therapy equipment and mobility devices, such as walkers and wheelchairs, which are then provided directly to the children. Each piece of equipment is tailored to meet the individual needs of the children, ensuring they have the necessary tools to improve their mobility.

Funding Club Foot Surgeries

This initiative is dedicated to providing essential financial assistance to children needing treatment for clubfoot. By covering costs for plaster casts, corrective shoes, and surgical procedures, we ensure that these children receive the critical care they need. This initiative not only alleviates financial barriers for families but also restores mobility to children.

Transportation Project

To improve transportation access for parents and children involved in ECC activities, we have purchased buses. These vehicles facilitate commutes to school, the physical therapy center, and monthly meetings, ensuring children can access the physical therapy and education they need while also enabling parents to attend our gatherings.

“Empowering Women”: Teaching Women a Trade

The “Empowering Women” project aims to equip mothers of children with disabilities with valuable skills that foster financial independence. We offer training in various trades, such as jewelry-making and sewing, through a structured three-day workshop. Each day, mothers receive hands-on experience focused on a specific trade, enabling them to contribute to their families financial wellbeing.

“Sponsoring a Child” Project

We feature the inspiring stories of ECC’s children on our website, showcasing their unique personalities, experiences, and individual needs. You can choose to support a child by purchasing specific items or by making a monthly donation that goes directly to the child’s family. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference in their lives and help provide essential resources for their growth and development.

Vision: Building a Special Needs Center

Our ultimate aspiration is to establish a comprehensive Special Needs Center that will include a school, vocational learning center, and rehabilitation services specifically designed for children with disabilities and their families. This facility will create a supportive environment for education, skills training, and therapy services. To realize this vision, ECC aims to either purchase an existing building or acquire land to construct the center, significantly enhancing the resources available to the community.
